Beignet's Story...
This nervous goof of a dog is Beignet and he is looking for his loving forever home. Since he is a puppy, we will be collecting applications and then inviting the person we feel will be the best fit for him to come in to meet him. A beignet (pronounced ben-yey) is a type of fritter popular in Louisiana where Catahoulas are the state dog. Beignet is a sweet and playful boy that is very nervous in new situations. He acts a little squirrely and will dance away from you if you reach for him before he is comfortable with you. Beignet loves to play almost as much as he loves his food and these are the ways to win him over. Given his age and nervous energy, he will need to be signed up for positive reward based training classes before he can go to his new home. These classes will teach him more manners, get him some much needed socialization, and help deepen his bond with his new person. Beignet is a little wary of getting his harness put on but once it is he is great on leash and would love to go on hikes with you. Since he can get overwhelmed fairly easily he needs a home with respectful teenagers or adults only. Beignet has displayed a fairly high prey drive and needs a home without cats. He really loves playing with other dogs and will do best living with an active dog that can help build his confidence. If you think Beignet might be the dog for you, please come to the front to fill out an adoption application to submit for review.
