Ogden's Story...
Ogden is an adorable little mutt, very timid but sweet and loves other dogs. We think he's about 2 years old and 10lbs full grown. He is looking for a calmer adult home with at least one other friendly dog to help him feel more comfortable. Please email an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com if you are interested.

These adorable but frightened little ones were rescued from a horrible hoarding situation in Westwood, NJ about a month ago. As we have a soft spot for the scared ones, we took in some of the most skittish who were taking longer to warm up and will need special foster and forever homes to help them feel safe. Similar to puppy mill rescues, dogs from this hoarding situation have never been on leash and probably rarely saw people other than their owner...everything is new and scary to them right now. They feel more comfortable with another more outgoing little doggie friend who will help show them how to appreciate life in a real home and become more trusting. They range in age from 2-6 years old, and all need to be spayed/neutered and many have rotted teeth that need to be pulled and cleaned. They are getting medical care first, then going to our experienced foster homes to start working on their psychological care. They will soon be looking for calmer adult homes and patient people that will give them time to bond on their own terms. The 3 chis are TINY, only about 3-4lbs, and the others are 10-12lbs and appear to be shih Tzu/Brussels/chi/pug/??? mixes. If you are interested in adopting one of these little boys or girls once they are ready, please email an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com. We are also in need of donations toward their medical care, please donate on our website through paypal or mail donations to Second Chance Pet Adoption League, PO Box 221, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you!

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ogden, a Oak Ridge Chihuahua/Pug dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Pug for sale in Oak Ridge, or seeking a Chihuahua/Pug dog from a breeder in Oak Ridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Ridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Ridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Pug breeders who help with Chihuahua/Pug rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Ridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
