ALLIE in Dallas Adopted's Story...
ALLIE IN DALLAS, TEXAS HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Allie is a delightful young girl who is estimated to be 2-3 yrs old, and weighs just 14 lbs. This little girl was a neglected stray, who is so very happy to now be part of the goings-on in her foster mom's household. She loves attention and to get it, she will nuzzle your hand with her chin and look up adoringly at you. She can also be perfectly content curled up on her own or flopped down on a cool floor with her legs fanned out behind her. She loves doggie beds, and she is not picky. She will go to any doggie bed, plop right down, and just love being there, rolling on her back with all four paws in the air before curling up for a nice, long snooze.

Allie will need a secure yard and supervision at all times when out doors. She loves to go out and bask in the sun, but she is a little Houdini who can find open areas of a yard and get out. That might be the reason she ended up in the shelter in the first place.

You will need to keep your shoes in your closet because Allie will steal them and convert them to chew toys. She also needs a bit more work on crate-training. Allie is not keen on the crate. She will sleep in it at night, but she has a little to say before she settles down to sleep.

Allie still has a lot of puppy in her. She is very playful and loves chew toys – especially those that make any sort of crinkly noise. She is very smart and attentive and responds well to direction because she wants to please you, and that is good because she needs a family that can channel her youthful energy and guide her to maturity. Allie is very friendly and gentle with other dogs; but she stops whatever she is doing and barks at the cat whenever she sees her, so she may be best suited for a home without cats.

From time to time, we receive pictures from shelters requesting help with an intake they believe to be a Brussels Griffon or Affenpinscher. We received such a call for Allie, who had come into the shelter stray, matted, and filthy. This little girl was so afraid that she huddled against the wall, barely lifting her head. The next day started “clear the shelter weekend”, and we felt that because of her poor condition and standoffishness, Allie would probably be overlooked. We didn’t want to take any chances, so an NBGR volunteer kindly pulled Allie and is currently fostering her.

Allie’s face was very hard to make out because of her dark coloring, but her body shape led us to believe she could be an Affenpinscher or an Affen mix. Now that we have clearer pictures of her face (still hard to capture), we are not sure what breed or mix Allie might be…a little Affen? a little Schnauzer? She might even be a little bit rock-n-roll.

What we do know is that irregardless of her heritage, Allie is a true delight and a lovely companion, and she will make a delightful addition to a family. She is eager to please and wants a family she can make smile and laugh with her. She has come a long way from the dirty, matted, shy girl huddling next to the wall. She’s ready to get the better part of her life started. Could it be with you and your family?

Allie is heart worm negative and on preventative, up to date on vaccinations, micro chipped, and spayed.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
