If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Pre-Qualification Form.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.

Robert is a 11 year old Beagle mix that was surrendered to Animal Control.  ARPO rescued him and gave him some much needed medical attention. We have kept his name as 'Robert' since this was his name for 11 years.  It's a different and distinguished name for a dog and really does fit him once you get to know his personality!
Robert is good about going in his crate, and is crated during the day while his foster mom goes to work.  In the evenings he may go in his crate or lately he's being getting up on his special chair to sleep.  Robert loves people attention and just wants somebody to pet and love on him!!  He does ok with other dogs, but really doesn't have any interest in them.  He's over the playing stage and would rather just be petted and loved on!!  He likes to have the front door open so he can look outside to see what's going on thru the screen door.  He can sit there for hours just looking outside.
Robert is a happy-go-lucky dog.  Since he's a Beagle mix, he just loves his feeding time and anytime you are in the kitchen.  He is a beggar, there's no denying that!  Robert does love to eat!!   Any potential adopter would just need to be firm regarding giving him too much. He also loves to go on walks and does pretty well on leash. Robert will bark when he gets excited, like getting out the leash for walks and dinner time!  Robert does not do well around

cats, so will need a home with no cats around.

Robert would do best in a home where there are no small kids. He does well with kids, but when given treats, he tends to snap them out of your hand.  We have been working on taking treats gently and he is getting better.  So being around little children may not be the best for Robert.  This is probably his only bad habit and it's workable with a little more training and some time.
Robert does have medication he needs to be on for the rest of his life as he was diagnosed with Cushings Disease and a thyroid disorder.  Although not life threatening, Robert has to be maintained on the medication for both Cushings and thyroid.  He has a small heart murmur; however at this point in time doesn't require medication.
Robert is a great guy and deserves a forever home.  Won't you please consider adopting Robert and giving him the love and attention he so craves in his golden years?

Robert's adoption fee is $75 and includes his previous surgeries, veterinary well check, neuter, vaccinations and microchip.
