My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Selena is an 8 year old Tabby cat. She was taken by her former owner to Chicago Animal Care and Control. Her former owner said that Selena was pregnant and she did not want the responsibility of caring for her and her kittens. Selena was waiting 10 days for someone to rescue her and had run out of time. She was due to be euthanized but Illinois Animal Rescue came and got her out of there right before she was scheduled to be put down. During the 10 days Selena was at Chicago Animal Care and Control she contracted Calici virus. By the time she was transported to the vet by Illinois Animal Rescue Selena was very ill. She was so ill that she was no longer able to carry her kittens and went into labor soon after arriving at the vet. The kittens were too young to survive, only 45 days old and she was too weak to push them out. Her condition was so dire at that moment that one of the vet suggested that we euthanize her so she would not suffer any longer. Illinois Animal Rescue asked if there were any other options for her. The vet said she could be given a C-Section and spay to see if any of the kittens were viable and then treat her Calici virus and hope for the best. Selena was only given a 15% chance of living through the night. Sadly the kittens were too young and unable to breathe on their own and were put down humanely.

Selena beat the odds. She lived through the night. She lived on through the next day. She got a bit better every day. She has been healthy for 6 years now in her foster home. She would love to be adopted to a forever home.

Selena is a very sweet girl. She loves to sit in your lap and cuddle with you. She enjoys every day after being through so much. She is also kind to all the other foster animals in the house with her. Won't you give Selena the new home she deserves.
