My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophia is a short-haired black and white female with gorgeous green eyes. She has been vaccinated and spayed. We don't know how old Sophia is, but she has grown while in foster care, so we think she is a young adult. Sophia has a cropped right ear because she was destined for our barn cats program before she started acting tame while waiting for her placement. (An ear crop is done while the cat is unconscious at the vet being sterilized, and it designates a feral as sterilized so that anyone who sees the cat knows not to bother it because it won’t be starting a feral colony in their backyard). Sophia came to us destined for the barn cats program, but she quickly warmed to her caretaker, and, very sensibly, decided it would be better to act like a tame cat and get a home.

Now she acts very friendly, inquisitive, talkative, and shows lots of positive energy, even to total strangers. She lets her foster carer pick her up for longer and longer, and just allowed head-to-head rubs. She likes to sleep in your bed, she cuddles up to your face when you wake up, and is overall a very affectionate cat. She’s working on coming onto the lap. She is finicky about food, and doesn’t like canned food of any kind. She adores other cats.

She meows when she wants food or attention. It's cute but it takes getting used to her talkative habit.

Whoever adopts Sophia will have to gain her trust at first. She will need to be kept indoors for a couple of months at least so that she doesn’t run away, and then if her adoptive family intends her to enjoy outside time, they will have to slowly allow her it under supervision. Adoption will be subject to a home visit and a donation to Cowichan Cat Rescue.
