My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Bella ...she could see that her temperament was so kind and sweet that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized.

The shelter recognized Bella for all her great qualities and wrote the following on her shelter card (this is very unusual for a dog in a shelter to be acknowledged in this positive way)... Bella is a very cute (with the greatest mask ever) 9 - 12 month old Jack Russel terrier/Welsh Corgi mix. She is still in her puppy phase so she is a very active and puppy-like girl. This also means she's a blank slate that's open to anything. Bella loves to play and chase balls, but will also love to just cuddle with you and get some serious belly rubs. She also walks very well on a leash (always wants to please) and is working on her basic commands like sit and stay.
Did we mention she is great with kids? She's the sweetest and the most fun! She would make a great addition to a family with young children. We were able to temperament test Bella today with children.
The kids came over to her (as kids do in a sort of crazy way). Bella behaved very well! She sat quietly while they petted her and then played a little with them. She was so gentle, sweet and completely appropriate!

Bella is the kind of very endearing pup that will lie close on the couch and give a periodic kiss...she's a very loving girl! Bella was immediately brought to be vetted and then to a great Texas foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Bella, at only about 9 - 12 months old and 16 lbs. (the perfect size to hike the Colorado trails like a champ.. and then enjoy lazy down time with her favorite people) is quite calm (particularly after exercise) and so sweet and sensible that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom.

Bella is like a blank slate at barely a year old...open and curious about everything around her and SO smart! She's incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If she continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, Bella will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.

FOSTER SUMMARY
Bella is an adorable Jack Russell/Corgi mix pup with a shining coat with the most beautiful markings we've ever seen! This speaks of good health and youth. Bella's sweet demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more analytical..and then overjoyed once comfortable in a new situation. If Bella is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for our sweet girl. We also feel it's very important that Bella is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities.

Bella will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 10/215. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
