Duke's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Duke's Story...
Duke is a petite, gorgeous red Irish setter/Retriever mix looking for a loving home. Duke came to ACL when a young boy found him on the street and tried to care for him. It was clear that this little boy loved Duke and wanted to do everything in his power to find him a good home - how could ACL resist helping? Duke is two years old, small at 35 pounds, and a little on the shy side. He's been living happily in foster care, where he's loved playing with his two doggie siblings and three human siblings. Duke loves playing with other dogs, and he's good with children of all ages. He is an escape artist by nature - his adopters must have a fenced yard. Duke is housebroken, good on leash, and overall a lovely houseguest with a sweet disposition. Duke does take a bit of time to warm up and trust new people, so he may be very shy when you first meet him. He opens up quickly, and he'll show you all the love in the world! Duke is not suitable for homes with cats. To meet and possibly adopt Duke, please email Gabrielle at caninemanager@animalcareleague.org to set up an appointment with his foster family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duke, a Oak Park Irish Setter/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Irish Setter/Retriever (Unknown Type) for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Irish Setter/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Irish Setter/Retriever (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Irish Setter/Retriever (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
