My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Rita. My brother, Reid, and I are humble testaments to how animal rescue can transform lost, forgotten, compromised animals into loving companions, whose souls can now shine. Life didn't start out for me very well. When I was rescued, I had a lot of missing fur and was covered with scabs due to several kinds of mange. I used to drive myself crazy by having to scratch all the time. Plus, I was starving. I have come such a long way! My fur is now growing back, and I'm now enjoying life. I am a 'free-spirit'. I have a lot of spunky energy and even though I'm a little smaller than my brother, I like to tell him I'm the boss. However, the other dogs in my foster home don't agree, and they never let me be the boss. Oh well. My favorite things are romping with other dogs, running like crazy on summer nights in the yard trying to catch the red laser pointer dot, eating homemade peanut butter pumpkin treats, and finding toys around the house. I like the squeaky ones the best. I am content to sleep in my foster mom's room on a big, plush dog bed during the night. I can sleep through the night without having to go potty, but during the day when I'm more active, I might have to go out more often--just watch for my cues when I head toward the door. I'm looking for a family who will love and accept me while I continue to heal and develop into a playful, lively, affectionate young lady.
