My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello hello! My name is Chopper and I'm an owner surrendered 8 year old short haired red doxie girl! I have some greying on my muzzle by my foster mom says that just makes me look distinguished! I'm a tweenie in size at a healthy 7.5kg. And I'm not a smooth red, but I'm not a wire hair either, just like my size, I'm somewhere in-between!

I'm having a great time with my foster brother and sister even though they're much younger than me, when they get too rambunctious for me I let them know to leave me alone and let me nap on the softest pillow on the couch, but I'm always ready for a head scratch and belly rub even if I'm asleep, wake me up and rub my belly, it's ok, I won't mind.

I do like stealing my foster brothers favourite toy from time to time and making him bark, it's so fun to get him all worked up! And I'll even play tug of war with him for it.

I love to run in the off-leash park and will come when called back to you. And I love to go for walks and will do a circle dance for you when you show me my leash. Being outside on the deck is the best way to spend the day, there's so many squirrels to bark at and things to smell, outdoors is the best.

I have never been crated and I like sleeping between the covers by my foster mom's feet. I'm fully housetrained and will walk to the back door giving you a look when I need to be let out.

I really like to be in the same room as my foster parents, but once they've settled in I'll go back to the softest pillow on the couch and nap so I can be ready for going outside again.

There are two cats here and no matter how much I run at them and bark at them they won't play with me, I don't understand it!

I love all people and all dogs big and small, everyone gets a sniff. I don't really understand why my foster sister keeps bringing the ball back over and over, and I don't mind paddling at the beach in shallow water.

I'm not used to having my food regulated and I sure do like people food so be sure to guard your plate because I can be sneaky! I also really like sweets, evidenced by my two bad teeth that have to be pulled out! But once I've recovered from surgery I'll be ready for my forever home.
