Aspen's Story...
Aspen is a two-year-old Shepherd mix, born around June 2012. She will make a fabulous family dog! She adores people of all ages and genders. She is a high energy dog, so she may not be appropriate for children under 5. I have a six year old that she adores, and he has no problem dealing with her energy level. Aspen equally adores all dogs - any shape or size. She loves playing with another dog, so she will need a doggy companion that is willing to play. She is crazy about soft toys, balls and swimming! She goes swimming every day in the horse water tank and creek we have on the farm. So...a potential adoptee may want to invest in a plastic swimming pool for Aspen's pleasure. She is quite hilarious to watch frolicking around in the water! Aspen is fine with inside cats. I really have no idea what she would do with outside cats. She is not good with chickens, which makes me think she may be too tempted to chase or terrorize outside felines. Aspen is crate trained, although, like most dogs...she would prefer to not have to stay in a crate. She is very loyal and stays on our property which is unfenced. This dog is crazy about her people....she is not one who should be left alone for 12 hours a day. She needs someone who can embrace her activity level. She will not do well in an apartment. She has to have room to run and play. She is extremely smart and will do what it takes to please her person. She has been with me for three weeks and has learned to sit, shake and lay down, as well as a dozen other things such as no counter surfing! If you want to meet this beautiful, funny, energetic gal, please contact Kelly at 828-989-8161 or If must put Aspen in the subject box or I may not open the mail. Thanks for your interest. Visual breed identification of dogs has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place dogs based on personality not breed label. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue's Adoption Center is located at 31 Glendale Ave., Asheville, NC 28803 or call 828-505-3440 for more information. Our hours are Mon.-Sun. 9am-7pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Aspen, a Asheville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Asheville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Asheville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Asheville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Asheville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Asheville paves the way for another one to be saved.
