Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ginger was extremely shy when she came to us from the Oakland Animal Shelter. emotionally dependent on her cage mate and very unsure of herself alone.
However, it didn't take her long to transfer her affections to another canine - foster brother Audie. (They are a very cute couple who love to play together). Ginger is also coming out of her shell and beginning to trust her human friends as well. She now comes running up to her foster dad wagging her tail when he comes home. She is very sweet, just wanting to be loved.
We are guessing at Ginger's breed mix - we see possible Mastiff, German Shepherd, Labrador retriever and even Shar Pei. She is medium large at almost 70 lbs. Ginger is good in the home. She doesn't dig in the yard or chew and has never had an accident in the house. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her foster dad's bedroom, snuggling up with foster brother Audie and her favorite stuffed toy. Considering how loving and caring she is with Audie, we believe Ginger will be happiest when she has a large, calm male dog companion.
Ginger came to us with entropion in both eyes. This is an uncomfortable medical condition in which the eyelid folds inward. She has undergone surgery and now is feeling much better, although you can tell from her squint it will take a while before she is fully recovered.
