Max's Info...

I am already neutered, purebred, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Max's Story...
Meet Max, he is a 4 year old purebred German Shepherd.

Max’s perfect home will be with someone that has the patience, knowledge and expertise for his breed. He does fantastic with other dogs, has been trained in obedience and walks very nicely on a leash. His foster mom says he is a very sweet and intelligent dog!!

Recently his world was turned upside down when his owner became ill and could no longer care for him. He has been through a lot and will need some time to settle into a new home. Max has no food aggression towards people or other dogs. He may be a little rough taking treats from your hand as he is overzealous but we’re working on that with him and as long as he is reminded, he takes treats pretty nicely. Max resides with 2 other dogs in his foster home, a senior female great Dane and a middle age 20 lb. male Pekingese mix. He is great with both. While we have not tested him with cats, we are told he does fine with them. Max has never lived with children. We feel he would do best in a home with children that are 12 years of age or older.

When he came to our rescue he was severely underweight. Currently Max weighs 68 lbs. However he should weigh more like 75-80 lbs. and is slowly and steadily gaining. Max had 2 hip surgeries when he was very young. While he has made a full recovery, he does require a daily joint supplement that he needs to stay on for the rest of his life.

We require he go to a home with a fenced in yard and someone home with him a lot as this is what he is familiar with. Potential families must be local to the western suburbs of IL as we will do home visits.

Proud foster mom brags: Max is such a sweet boy, full of affection and loves to give you kisses. Pick up his leash and he is all tail wags and body wiggles. He loves to sleep in bed with you and yes, is a bed hog. But it’s because he loves to know you’re there and likes to be near you. Bonus…he doesn’t snore! He has the most beautiful coat and loves to be brushed. Max’s favorite toy is a lime green stuffed octopus that squeaks. He is playful and fun when it comes to toys. Another of his all time favorite things is to go in the car with you. He is excellent in the car too! If you want a big, goofy boy that loves to go for car rides, Max is your man!

If you are interested in Max please fill out an application to adopt on our website. Max's adoption fee is $250. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, we will contact you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Warrenville German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Warrenville, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Warrenville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Warrenville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Warrenville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Warrenville paves the way for another one to be saved.
