Prancer is a wonderful girl who is 8 years young and very well-traveled. Prancer was originally a stray in Paris where her owners found her as a puppy. They took Prancer in and gave her a loving home and the experience of traveling many countries with them. Unfortunately like many Malinois and Malinois mixes Prancer valued her personal space and didn’t like meeting new people or having to tolerate other dogs. Her owners allowed Prancer to become quite the diva however when they were then asked to relocate to Germany Prancer was unable to pass customs into the country. The owners did everything they could but in the end had to surrender Prancer to us in the hopes of finding her a new home. Prancer is a wonderful girl who is still very active and energetic. Like most Malinois Prancer needs firm boundaries set around her behavior. Since arriving with us Prancer has become better about being handled by multiple people but we would not suggest her for a home with small children or lots of activity in and out of the house. Prancer isn’t the type of dog who likes to be cuddled or fussed over. She values having a job or activity – even if it is just lying on the bed – and appreciates a no-nonsense attitude. Prancer has also become accustom to other dogs and does really well with the other dogs. Again she is a very no-nonsense dog and will tell the younger dogs to leave her alone sometimes but will also play with them at times. Prancer is above all a very loyal dog and once you have gained her trust and loyalty you couldn’t ask for a better dog. Prancer is searching for a home who understands and appreciates her Malinois characteristics and will give her the love she deserves into her golden years.

About Tier Haven Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Tier Haven Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit animal rescue agency based in Louisville, KY that specializes in German Shepherds and similar working breeds. Tier Haven realizes that many German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) find themselves in shelters due to a lack of training and understanding of the breed. Tier Haven is a no-kill rescue which limits the number of dogs we can care for at any given time for this reason Tier Haven focuses on taking dogs from shelters that are in direct risk of euthanasia and has a separate policy for owner surrenders.

Surrender Policy

Tier Haven accepts owner surrenders on a conditional basis due to the large number of dogs in kill shelters. If you have a dog you would like to surrender you must email pictures and the reason for surrendering to Tier Haven does charge a fee for surrendering a dog; $80 for a fully vetted dog (vaccinations, alter, heartworm test) when vet records are provided and $150 for un-vetted dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

Tier Haven requires an adoption application to be completed and processed prior to meeting or adopting any of our dogs. As a completely foster based organization Tier Haven relies on the application to help ensure that adopters are only meeting dogs that are suitable for their household based on various factors. The application is completed via email and you may email us at to obtain an application. When submitting an application please contact your vet clinic and provide them with a release of information and also inform your personal references that they will be contacted.

Once your application is processed you will be contacted by a volunteer to discuss potential dogs and arrange a meet and greet. Since we are a foster based group we only allow up to three (3) dogs on each meet and greet to keep it manageable for everyone. Meet and greets are often held at public locations to respect the privacy of our foster homes and they are scheduled at the discretion of the foster homes.

Tier Haven charges an adoption fee of $250 for each dog. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart-worm test, micro-chip, and monthly preventative care while with our organization. All medical records are provided at the time of adoption along with an adoption contract.
