UPDATE 6/22/09: Rio is now officially off the adoption list due to hip dysplasia as well as luxating patellas in both knees. His foster family is keeping him and taking care of his medical needs forever!
UPDATE 12/01/08: I AM STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THIS TIME. I am completely recovered from my torsion surgery and aspiration pneumonia however, my fungal infection is still hanging around and I am still being treated for that as well as another skin infection. I currently weigh 63 lbs and am still growing. I love playing with the baby foster puppies. My foster mom says I am still a couch potato who is a big teddy bear! She will keep updating my progress.
UPDATE 8/26/08: I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THIS TIME. I had to undergo emergency surgery this weekend for torsion. This is where the stomach turns around and cuts the blood supply off to vital organs. I also aspirated something prior to the surgery and am coughing and am being watched closely to make sure it does not turn into pneumonia. My foster mom is taking me home today and will take very good care of me. Updates will follow with my progress.
UPDATE 07/23/08: I am learning to be housebroken and am completely crate trained. Boy do I love to howl! I am now doing that to get anyone's attention. I really love belly rubs and nibbling your chin/face. I am now almost 30 lbs and still growing. I am a sweetie who loves to sleep alot right now. My foster mom cracks up watching me try to run with my long legs and big feet. I have a ways to go at mastering it completely! I do have a skin infection on my face and neck that has put any adoption plans on hold until it clears up. My foster mom will update my bio as soon as the vet says I am free and clear!
I was found eating out of a trash can. But, a very sweet lady asked me to go for a ride and I accepted! She found me a foster mom and I am loving life inside! I howl just like a hound and am going to be a big boy. I am already over 18 lbs. I am loving and sweet and already follow my foster mom around the house. I like everyone including other dogs. I am just a big loving big baby! Check back for updatesand more pics as I get to know my foster family!
