My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LAYA is a 5 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 50 pounds. She likes to play, get attention and be with you. When you pet her she leans against you to make sure she is close enough to get petted. She likes to retrieve but enjoys being petted just as much. She would love an active family that have a yard to play in so she can chase a ball or toy. She is a Jake approved dog
Good with other dogs, was in a yard with other Lab Rescue pups. No cat history. Knows some commands sit and come. Okay on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained may be house trained as she is keeping her room clean at the kennel. Laya is approved for kids ages 10+

Update (10/11): Laya is a very social dog with lots of personality. She has not met a person or canine that she hasn’t immediately tried to friend. She has particularly enjoyed our walks that coincide with the neighborhood school bus times as she likes to say hello to all the humans and other dogs along the way. She greets everyone appropriately and will give kisses for pets. In the house, she likes to settle down next to me and will sometimes nudge my hand and roll over for belly rubs.
Laya has a lots of energy and likes to play fetch, either with humans or alone. She wouldn’t mind having an owner that can throw better than her FM. We’ve been taking a 2 mile walk with the resident pup in the morning, and another 1 mile walk in the evening. She rides well in the car and seems to like her crate, she goes in with her stuffed toys for a nap. She’s been having fun playing with the stuffed dog toys in the house and likes to move them from place to place throughout the day. She sleeps on the dog bed in the master bedroom at night, seems housetrained and sleeps through the night. Hasn't yet gotten on furniture - but seems willing to try with encouragement.
Laya walks good with an EZ Walk Harness. She stills likes to explore and investigates everything. We seem to disagree on home decor (i.e. she prefers to carry the kitchen towels around the house, might alter the location of shoes, help move the remote, likes the tissues outside of the tissue box, etc.) so she is crated when I’m not able to watch her and she seems to enjoy the crate, crates easily and settles right away. She will have a training addendum. She would do with a yard large enough to run and wander around with a physical vice an underground fence.
Overall, she’s a very happy dog that has a natural smile and a great personality. She’s a great size and is super friendly; tail is almost always wagging. She’ll make some lucky family a wonderful companion.

Update (10/5): Heather says "Had the opportunity to spring Ms Laya from the kennel today to come for a visit and burn off some energy. This gal has a gorgeous smile, a playful personality and likes to play ball".
