My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a more mature companion? If so, let us introduce you to Fozzie. Weighing in at 60 pounds, he looks like a result of multiple breeds. His coat is mostly brindle, but his other markings and size suggest perhaps some hound, cattle dog or blue healer, with a shepherd-like face. Fozzie is estimated to be 8 years old – give or take a year in either direction. His mobility is fine; he can jump in the car and climb steps with ease. This dog is a sweetie and wants nothing more than to be near you with his head resting under your arm waiting for a belly rub.

Fozzie was initially very anxious when he arrived in his foster home. But he has made so much progress - he is now much more settled and is evolving into a loving and devoted canine companion. His foster mom reports that while he is wary of unfamiliar noises and unexpected movements (a good watch dog, actually), he calms quickly. Fozzie is a dream on leash - although happy and excited to see other dogs on his walks, he is typically quiet, calm, rarely pulls, and is nonreactive to people, squirrels, and rabbits. He is potty-trained, knows the “sit” command and is getting the meaning of “stay”.

Fuzzy has no interest in chewing on things that he’s not supposed to, and while he’s not at all food aggressive (he’s sharing a home with 2 other dogs), he initially behaved like a whirling dervish at mealtime at the prospect of food being served. He now sits patiently and waits for his dish to be placed on the floor and has learned to be respectful of his humans when they eat at a table or on the couch. Fozzie is an eager student, proving that mature dogs can learn new behaviors. This boy truly deserves to have love and security for the rest of his life. His YouTube video will give you a sense of what it's like being with Fozzie.

Fozzie probably has some peripheral vision loss in his right eye, but his left eye seems to be working well. However, his foster mom and our behaviorist think of this as a non-issue - it doesn’t seem to impede him in any way. But for this reason, and because unexpected movements and sounds sometimes spook him, we would recommend that he be adopted into a home without young children (we don't think the grandkids visiting will be a problem).

Fozzie’s adoption fee of $175 includes: vet exam, heart worm test (neg.), all core vaccinations (distemper, bordetella, rabies), routine deworming, flea control, heart worm prevention, microchip and neuter.
