Grady's Story...
Sophia, Scrappy and Grady were surrendered to the Lorain Police Department because their family lost their home and the poor dogs were living in a car. The police brought the dogs to Friendship. Grady is a super sweet and gentle boy. Sophia and Scrappy were not very nice to their housemate Grady and tended to pick on him. It could have been because of the close quarters of the car. He needs some tender loving care, but Grady will steal your heart. He would love to find a home where he is loved and left in peace.

If you have older kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting Scrappy and Sophia please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Grady, a Elyria Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
