Posted 9/29/2015. Penni is an energetic, happy and friendly American Staffordshire Terrier/Hound mix who would love to be able to call your home, her home. This sweet girl has a rough past and came to us not long after having a litter of puppies, her milk barely dried up and her ears so infected that they were almost completely swollen shut. She was also frost bitten and covered in an itchy rash from head to toe. Despite the obvious past neglect and lack of proper vet care Penni rebounded quickly and has learned to shine while in her current foster home. She is incredibly friendly with children of all ages, gets along with dogs of all shapes and sizes and loves all adult humans (male and female) that she comes into contact with. Unfortunately she is not a pup who cares for cats so a feline-free home is a necessity. Penni is housebroken, crate trained and learning basic obedience commands but she is also stubborn and easily distracted, so it would be best if she attends a basic obedience with her new adoptive family. She loves Nylabones, Kongs with cream cheese, carrots and nearly every other chewy treat that she can get her teeth on. She is not destructive though and takes good care of her dog bed and other belongings.

Unfortunately though, like many of us humans, sweet Penni is not perfect. She suffers from some allergies to things that cannot be easily removed from her environment,t and requires a small allergy shot every three weeks to keep her itch free. The shot though can be easily given in a home environment and she seems to almost happily take her long as she gets a yummy treat afterwards as a reward! She also requires an allergy-friendly bath 1-2 times a week, daily ear cleanings, allergy friendly food (Natural Balance brand - easily bought at or many local pet stores) and must also go to a home that is completely tobacco-free, since tobacco leaves are one of her irritants. While this may sound like a lot of commitment to a single pup it really is worth it for this sweet girl when you see how grateful she is and how much love she has to give. Plus Penni’s foster family and dermatologist will be happy to school any adoptive family in what is necessary to keep her happy and healthy for the rest of her life! Penni is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all her vetting and vaccinations. Please considering giving this bright and happy girl a furever spot in your home and life!

About Furry Friends Network - Dog Adoptions

About Our Rescue Group...

Furry Friends Network is a non profit, all-volunteer animal adoption organization. Our philosophy is to help those animals that did not ask to be born, that are often the result of human ignorance. Any animal, no matter its age, can offer love and companionship to the right person.

Furry Friends Network is not a shelter, but instead uses a foster home network to house the animals until permanent, indoor homes can be found, offering second chances at lifetimes of love and happiness.
