My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penny is fostered in Waunakee WI 53597 through United Yorkie Rescue. To find out more about Penny contact her foster momma: hlezotte@gmail.com For five years Penny, who's 5 years old, lived in a horrendous puppy mill in Missouri. She lived in a wire cage not much bigger than she is, she never had a soft bed to rest in, toys to play with or anyone to love or care for her. Penny was skin and bones, scared, sick and had very little fur when she came to rescue. After some extensive vet work, it was determined Penny has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) disorder which has been preventing her body from absorbing nutrients and was in the progressed stage of slow starvation. Her vet recommended she be on lifelong injections of B12 and pancreatic enzyme powder. The injections are approximately $30 for 6 (very reasonable) The enzyme powder is a bit pricey but absolutely necessary to give this girl a chance at a happy and healthy life. Without the enzyme powder, Penny's body will deteriorate, she will starve and her organs will fail. Since starting the injections and enzyme powder, Penny has gained 1.5 lbs and is starting to look much healthier, with hair regrowth. Penny needs to gain a few more pounds to reach a healthy weight, her current 9 lbs. is below her size frame, and then she'll be spayed and have a dental cleaning. Despite her previous horrible life, Penny is the sweetest girl with a wonderful personality. She enjoys all people, young and old, and loves attention. She will come when I call her name, she sleeps well in her bed all night long, enjoys cuddling, loves to have her head and ears scratched and follows me everywhere. Penny will need a home where someone is home fairly often. Someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal. She has learned to trust, loves to be close to her person and is great on car rides. Penny will make a wonderful companion to someone who is home more often than not. She is wonderful with kids of all ages and has no issues with her feline friend and other dogs in the house. She's fine with stairs walks nicely on her leash, and enjoys having her ears scratched and absolutely loves sleeping in a bed next to her foster momma. She likes to follow her foster mom around the house and snoozes while she's working. She really enjoys toys with treats hidden in them. As a puppy mill survivor, Penny is working on potty training, foster mom has her on a potty break schedule. To complete an application go to: http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org or email: info@uyr.us
