My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Julie is a three year old applehead Chihuahua who is bonded to Chiquita. They both came from the same home, where they were not socialized very well with people. She is very shy but will bond very strongly with whomever is taking care of her. Right now, she is in love with her caretaker, Lowell (and his beard!) so we know she has a trusting, loving personality that can be coaxed out of her. She plays with Chiquita any chance that she gets and we would love to see them go with someone that has dog/Chihuahua experience.

We really appreciate your wanting to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We offer FREE Vet care for the first 3 weeks after adoption. We also have a great adoption matchmaker who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. Please feel free to submit your application!
