I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Rhett's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Rhett's Story...
Rhett is one of the best cuddlers you will meet. He loves to be held and to be with his person. He will follow you wherever you go. He is friendly with other dogs and greets humans with curiosity. He may be a little shy at first, but is quite friendly once you get to know him. His favorite place to be is in you lap!

He was found as a stray so we do not know his history, but we believe he is the result of careless breeding. While he has beautiful blue eyes, those same genetics cause him to be completely deaf. If you have not lived with a deaf dog, they are quite an easy keep so do not let that scare you!

Rhett is fostered in Atlanta, but a meet and greet in Chattanooga can be arranged by appointment.

Please email for an adoption application (Microsoft Word format).

Prior to adoptions, all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age appropriate), heartworm tested, microchipped and are kept up to date on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.

Adoption fees are $300 for dogs up to 8 years of age and $200 for 8+ years.

SOMAD is a private, all volunteer, foster-home based rescue group. Please be patient as we answer your inquiries; we do our best to answer emails within a day, however volume and regular life schedules sometimes delay us.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rhett, a Chattanooga Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Chattanooga, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Chattanooga.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chattanooga already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chattanooga breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chattanooga paves the way for another one to be saved.
