Information

Lucy is a sweet gentle "lady" dog! She is unable to bark and works very hard to map her territory. She is housetrained but must be taken out. She is learning socialization skills since she was probably a puppy mill mama. She loves her foster daddy and is beginning to cuddle with her foster mommy. She does not like the crate but does sleep there without any problems. She gets along well with her foster siblings but is startled when they bark. She has "bumped" into her foster brother (Golden) and her foster sisters (terrier mix and silkie terrier) but they are understanding and willing to let her go wherever she wants. She loves the outdoors and to roll in the grass. Does well with a leash but must be gently guided due to her blindness. Her diet has been modified to help her lose a "little" weight. She continues to blossom like a spring flower everyday. Lucy will be spayed prior to adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Wilmington Silky Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Silky Terrier for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Silky Terrier dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Silky Terrier breeders who help with Silky Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
