My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

February 2016 update: Check out this handsome boy! Before he arrived in Maine our southern rescue partners told us, "Shadow is a big dog with an even bigger heart! He is a Labrador Retriever mix and is three years old. His shiny black coat is perfect for petting and his golden brown eyes are windows to a truly beautiful soul. Shadow weighs 74 pounds. He is a well-mannered companion on daily walks and loves his time in the play yard. Shadow also enjoys splashing around in the pool. He loves the company of other dogs. Shadow is a gentle dog who is a bit shy at first, but has blossomed with attention and affection. He will be such a devoted companion!"

Now that he is here with us in foster care, we have learned that Shadow is a "no go" with cats, but is fine with other dogs. He has been to doggy day care and done well. He is a smart cookie and is learning commands quickly.

Shadow can be nervous with new people at first, but with a little time and a few treats he comes around. He is bonding quickly with his foster mom and likes watching his foster dad from a distance for now. If he is leaning on his foster mom, anyone can come pet him.

Shadow loves to ride in the car and will stick his head out the window. He is house-trained, crate-trained and ready to meet his new family!

Shadow’s foster mom tells us he is so smart! He knows sit, lay, stay, come. He can be hesitant at first with new situations and new people, especially men. He is coming out of his shell more and more with every new experience.

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org, or request an application via email, luckypuprescue@yahoo.com.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
