My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Max is currently living in a foster home in Houston and is available for local or out-of-town adoption.**

Max is a smart boy and where he was found proves that! He followed a group of students on the University of Houston campus up a flight of stairs and into a lecture hall. He was looking for some attention and probably a nibble too. They helped this sweet boy find his way into our program and into a safe foster home. We are thrilled to be a part of his story!

Max is a Labrador mix with the best black and tan markings. He is estimated at 1 year old and 40 pounds. He is super friendly, playful and has never met a stranger in a person or a dog. He loves everyone and it seems everyone loves him as well. If Max had his way, he would be where his people were at all times. He is just living it up with his foster family and we can’t imagine this guy was a stray with his affectionate personality.

This amazing dog passes the kid and dog test with flying colors. He doesn’t even chase the squirrels that come into his yard, but he does chase his own tail. He’s a bit of a goofball. His favorite activity is to go to the dog park and play, socialize and enjoy the outdoors. He plays ball too and is pretty good at returning. With a bit more practice, he will be an excellent fetch partner.

Max keeps his foster family entertained with his puppy-like attitude and actions. He is constantly bumping into things because he’s busy thinking about his next adventure, belly rub and dog park visit. There are a couple of things that Max would like to disappear from his life…the hair dryer and the printer. Those noises seem to be ones that he’d never heard before, which makes sense if he’d never been inside a house prior to his rescue.

Max loves to take walks on his leash and he is quite good at it considering it is a new hobby. He does get a bit excited when new faces and pups come around, so he pulls a bit during those times, but overall he’s good and will learn control. He’s a great runner and enjoys it quite a bit. We think that he’s going to be an excellent running partner for someone soon. He would be best suited for an active family or person that has a yard he can romp and run around in, but also will take him on daily walks/runs and other adventures. He’s just a happy guy that likes to be out and about with his friends and meeting new ones on the way.

He is already fully potty trained inside the house. He knows the command sit and comes to his name being called. He doesn’t care for his crate much and will whine for a few minutes when left inside of it, but he doesn’t fight going in. A treat helps with that and he takes them so gently and with kisses. He sleeps in his doggy bed on the floor in his foster mom’s room and doesn’t need to be kenneled at night. He’s a gentleman and doesn’t get on the furniture…I’m sure if he was invited he would certainly make his way up to be close to his people. Speaking of close….when Max rides in the car, he rides nicely and typically has his head in your lap pretty quickly.

Max is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is a healthy, young, smart boy looking for a family to love him and let him brighten your days for many years to come. He’s currently living in Houston with his foster family, but is available for local or out-of-town adoption in a place that is suitable for his fun-loving, active personality. His adoption fee is $300.
