My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady Bug is a beautiful little adorable black and white Shih Tzu in need of a loving home. She was released to the shelter by owners that could no longer take care of her. She was in sad shape when we rescued her. Her coat must have been matted because it had been cut close in the back and her skin was irritated which was probably due to being eaten up with fleas. She also had a yeast infection in both ears that is clearing up now with treatment. Being in the shelter was quite a culture shock for this little gal and she is just beginning to come out of her shell now that she feels safe and secure in a loving foster home. Her foster mom thinks there will be lots of fun surprises in store for her new owner as Lady Bug’s self confidence continues to increase even more once she is finally in her forever home. She has all ready surprised her foster mom with her good house manners, with how much she loves toys, and with how well she gets along with other dogs. But her talents don’t stop there. She also walks well on a leash and does well on car rides. Ladybug was guesstimated to be 6 years old and weighed 17 pounds when she first arrived at the shelter but her weight had dropped to 13.1 pounds by the time she was rescued. Our vet feels she needs to gain a little of her weight back before she is spayed and has the small tumor (which he does not think is serious) removed from her abdominal area. However, she has been brought up to date on vaccinations and she tested negative for heartworms. With that done she could take a trip to the “spa” to be groomed so that her uneven haircut could be shaped up. She is all ready beginning to regain her fabulous good looks ,as you can see, and she is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. If you would like to adopt Lady Bug, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
