My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samson – The Black Dog

Sampson is like the ultimate baseball player. Three strikes doesn’t mean the game is over! He was abandoned by some fisherman at the TN River before he was a year old (strike 1). He was taken home by a mom and daughter, but then the daughter dies (strike 2). After a few years, then the mom died (strike 3). He’s still here. He still tries.

Even after all of that, Samson still loves & smiles & wags. He is a people pleasing, sweetheart, low energy, manly big black dog. He’s probably 90% lab & 10% TN Walking horse because he moves like he has twinkle toes! His only fault is he wants to be close to you. He’d love to be a couch potato with you, but understands if you don’t want him to sit there. He is raring to go…walks great on the leash, loves to ride in the car, loves all people (young & old), dogs, cats & kids. He’s about 6 years old & weighs in at 70 lbs.

A few Samson Factoids:

Has a left ear flap that is omni-directional & moves independent of the rest of him.
Likes to eat his kibble while lying down by the bowl.
Has a glorious, manly, deep bark. Only barks when necessary.
Will let you poke, prod, pinch, pull & yank, and loves the attention.
Will happily let a 10 lb vicious black terrier mix push him around.
His snore would make a black bear jealous.
Personifies the dignity & whole hearted loving nature of all dogs.
Smiles with his eyes AND his tail.
Looks JUST like ‘THE’ Black Dog https://www.theblackdog.com/Black-Dog-Locations.html

This good natured fellow would make a great family member for anyone. He is agreeable, wants to please, polite and will make you smile.
