My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Border Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known for their loyalty and very gentle manners with family members and other family pets. They (like all dogs) require exercise and love being with their people...if a walk or hike is the order of the day - count them in! These happy-go-lucky Terriers are known to love the fun of the Colorado mountains just like their people do...and then crash on the couch snuggling close.

Baxter is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who is a shining example of all the things we love about Terriers. He has the quick intellect and great personality that engages everyone he meets. Baxter is an equal-opportunity lover...gentle kids, kind adults and respectful and fun canines all bring out the joy in this great dog.

Baxter's Texas foster sent us the following report on this almost-perfect pup :
Baxter has to be the the most endearing dog ever! He greets me in the morning with the cutest hug and kiss on the nose. I also have to brag about how great Baxter is with his housetraining. He's never had an accident or been disrespectful in any way of my home. There also has never been a human or dog that's walked through the door that Baxter hasn't greeted with major tail-wagging and love. He's incredibly well-adjusted and positive for a dog that was facing euthanasia. I see no sign of fear or leftover shelter anxiety whatsoever. He's just the best in every single way!
Baxter weighs 18 - 20 lbs and is a very mature 18 months (or so) old. He has a calm, gentle nature and always sweet personality. He gets along famously with my senior 80 lb. Smooth Coat Collie and young, energetic 14 lb. Miniature Poodle (they love to play like crazy in the yard and then sleep together in Sadie's dog bed) and is even polite with my cat (after she had a talk and a swat with him). Baxter has been polite and kind with my 11 and 15 year old kids and all their friends. He perks up when he sees them get his leash as he loves walks and socializing. He engages with everyone and behaves himself like a champion. They love to take him to the park or to baseball games at school.
Baxter is a perfect companion, loves to be in your lap but never needy or obnoxious. He will steal your heart (and the hearts of your family) instantly. I only ask that he be loved completely. No dog ever deserved it more!

Baxter has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Baxter in a home that includes him in their time and activities. He would thrive in an active family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Baxter would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup.

Baxter is a very lightly shedding guy who will require periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition. This regimen will control any shedding and keep his coat healthy and matt-free.

Baxter is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are currently being set up and applications and inquiries are welcome. If interested in this sweet, engaging and very loyal companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
