My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: All our Cupids are fostered in private homes. An approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Meet Oreo!
Oreo is a tiny little guy who is full of love. He wants all your attention and follows you around everywhere--he wants to be by your side at all times.

He loves to go outside and go for rides in the car as well as chew on bones. He loves to be pet and snuggled. He sleeps in bed with his foster mom and her dog and two cats, and Oreo gets along great with them!

While we don't know a lot about Oreo's history, we do know he had a bit of a rough start. He belonged to an elderly woman who'd had him since he was 12 weeks old. She had to give him up because she was moving into a senior living facility. Although she loved him very much it was a blessing for him as she was not able to afford his care for many years, nor give him the exercise every dog needs. He had never been to a vet for any shots nor had he been fixed. After a check-up, neuter and a good grooming, Oreo has put all that behind him and is ready to move forward!

Oreo is currently potty pad training. When his foster mom is home she lets him out about every two hours. He was most likely never left alone nor crated, so he needs a forever family who will be patient with him as he perfects his potty training. His foster mom does crate him to help him be more comfortable with it and, although he is not a fan, he doesn't have accidents in the crate. Such a good boy! While he still has accidents on occasion, they are becoming fewer and far between.

He is very food motivated, and is very interested in people food! He does eat his dog food twice a day, but he is a huge beggar anytime there is food around so never leave your plate unattended :). He has gotten into the garbage on occasion, so foster mom sets him up for success by making sure she puts the cans out of sight when she's not home.

Since Oreo mostly likely was not around very many dogs in his life he does get nervous in certain situations where there are a lot of other dogs around, which he expresses by being slightly skittish and drooling a bit. This sweet, adorable boy needs a home who will give him time, love and a bit of training. Could it be yours?

Oreo’s adoption fee is $150 and he is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

If you are interested in adopting, here are the next steps for you to take:

1. Complete & submit an application at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html

2. You will be notified by our Adoptions Team when your application is processed and approved (usually within 48 hrs)

3. Once approved, your application is sent to the foster family, who will then be able to provide you all the information imaginable on the dog as well as set up a meet and greet.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
