Midnight was rescued some time ago by Dachshund Lovers of Texas after doing some serious stray time. When we were contacted by a concerned animal control officer from the Corsicana shelter requesting that we get him to a vet as soon as possible. Midnight was fearful but kind, covered in ticks, malnourished, and suffering from multiple puncture wounds, some of which looked very infected.
Now Midnight is a new dog. His wounds have healed, his heartworm has been treated, and he is in great shapy pyusically. Emotionally he still have some baggage. Midnight is terrified of bigger dogs and compensates by growling and getting defensive with them. He also starts shaking and literally urinates in fear. It's clear after months of working with him that Midnight either needs to be an only dog or needs to be with a submissive, small dog that he trusts. Likewise, for simmilar reasons, he needs a home without young children around.
Midnight is never actually aggressive. He just postures like a big, bad dog if he thinks that will keep another dog from hurting him. Unfortunately, that could easily cause the exact opposite to happen and get him injured again.
Midnight is a cuddler who loves to sleep alonside his humans. He is full of love and just needs more time in a secure environment to really thrive. He's a good pet who appreciates love, enjoys food, and wants very much to be comfortable. If you can provide that kind of environment, MIdnight may be the one for you.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
