My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET No Name Red -

WHAT A SAVE! Saving Dachshund puppies like this little girl is one of the most gratifying things we get to do at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. One of the other is finding them wonderful, loving, forever families to care for and cherish them. This little one was rescued from a Puppy mill where she was abused, starved and getting ready to be used for breeding. She is under 6lbs and very shy so she will need a very loving family to care for her. She is currently at the ODR, Inc. vet getting the works done (except her spay and dental, which are scheduled to be done in 3 weeks as she is currently in heat). No Name Red loves being held in lots of blankets and will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and perhaps older children (over age 12 only), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, No Name Red is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, No Name Red needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give No Name Red a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
