Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET HUDLEY
This little pup is 11 months old and 9.2 lbs. He is super sweet and very adorable. He was just rescued on October 4, 2015 and has a broken tail...which, while it will heal, is quite painful for him now. HUDLEY has been fully vetted, neutered and had the works by the ODR, Inc. vet and is now ready to meet his forever family. He will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (retired/work from home) and no children... He was most likely dropped by all the children living in his previous home and now he is afraid of them. Also, HUDLEY needs to gain weight, nothing that a little healthy, home cooking can't fix though. HUDLEY needs socialization and needs to learn to trust. He is learning English, but does understand Spanish. Sadly, like many rescue doxies, Hudley has not been treated well so a patient, loving, doxie savvy family is a must. If this is you, please visit www.ODR-Inc.org and complete an Adoption Questionnaire.
Like all Dachshunds, HUDLEY is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, HUDLEY needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give HUDLEY a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
