See that handsome looking devil in the first picture, the one looking right at you?! That's me Charlie. I know, I know the bio says I am a baby, and I am, only a whopping 10-11 months old but I am a big boy for my age. And mom says with the proper groceries in my tummy I will weigh around 65-70 lbs. when I am full grown. But don't let my size shy you away, I am a BIG SOFTIE. I have had a pretty rough start in life and I will need to go to a home that understands that and also knows a little bit about my breed. I was once abused pretty bad by a man. I get highly scared and intimidated if you corner me or stand over top of me and move your hands towards the top of my head. For this reason rescue can not allow me to go to a home with young children. It wouldn't be fair to them or myself. And it has left some scars on my sensitive soul. I am still a very happy go lucky boy. And boy oh boy do I love to play with my current foster brothers and sisters. As long as the other hounds are not the "dominant" type like I tend to be. I have never had any issues with the other girl hounds, so Mom would kindly suggest I go to a home where I will be the only male hound or the only hound all together. Mom and Dad here are pretty cool too. Mom wants me to tell you all I remind her a great deal of a "bulldozer". I kind of just walk through the crowd as I please moving anything in my way to get when I want.....but not in a mean way though, I am just highly motivated!! Please understand I am still a puppy and have puppy habits, squeeky toys ROCK!!! Mom says I am going to need to go to a home that has patience and "tough" love and that whatever home I go to has to take me to obedience class. Mom explained it to me and it sounds like fun, getting to meet other dogs what wouldn't be funner.
**Basset Rescue is requiring for Charlie's adoption that a $50.00 deposit be placed with rescue until he completes obedience training. After complettion this deposit will be returned to the applicant**

Please remember Every animal for adoption through an Hounds Haven is fully vetted for their age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested! All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every hound is vaccinated (age appropriate), and de-wormed, in addition to being spayed/neutered.
We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire prior to us lining up an appointment for them to see the hound(s) at the hound(s)' home.
