My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Guest Dog - Tillie is not yet a DREAM dog and is being listed as a courtesy to a Good Samaritan / foster parent, to try to keep him / her out of the overcrowded rescue and shelter system. If you are interested in making this sweetheart part of YOUR family, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Guest Dog - Tillie's foster parent.

Hi! I am Guest Dog - Tillie and I am looking for a new home! And here is my story - straight from my foster mom's mouth:

I rescued this beautiful red dachshund from the Calhoun Animal Control three months ago. Her owners moved, leaving her and a Blue Heeler in the back yard. They were there for almost two months (with neighbors feeding them) until Animal Control picked them up.

She was to be euthanized on Thursday, and I picked her up on Tuesday. Close call! You can imagine her physical shape, but that was easily fixed. It is the separation anxiety we are working on now, and it is already much better. Tillie is an exceptional little girl to me. She is funny, loving, and full of energy. She loves her toys and is leash trained! She likes sleeping with me, but is also crate trained. They guess Tillie to be about 5 years old, her coat is a beautiful glossy red, and she is prissy and wants to be the lead dog!! Which means it will be best if Tillie finds a home where she is the one and only pet. No competition!

Just a note: you'll see that Tillie has a tear in her left ear flap from a previous dog fight. It has completely healed, but will require surgery to repair.

Please help me find a home for this wonderful little girl. She deserves a special "someone" that will think she is the absolutely sweetest dog ever, because she IS!!!

You can contact me - Vicki Hall - at 770-546-5608 if you'd like to hear more of Tillie's story and talk about adoption! Tillie's adoption fee is $200. You can also let DREAM know you would like to know more.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
