Cookie's Story...
Cookie is a female 2 year old doxie/ Pug mix weighing approximately 18 lbs. She is a very sweet girl that is playful and happy to be chosen to a forever family looking for a cute read head :-) She likes her bed to snuggle for naps and for a good night rest and her toys during playtime. Did I mention she also enjoys her "greenie" treats. Those treats make this lil girl happy happy happy. She was found running down the highway covered in ticks and fleas. She was very happy to have rescue scoop her up and give her attention, love and nice meals. She rides well in the car so she will make a good travel companion. She is up to date on vaccines, treated for heart worms and is now heart worm negative and flea and tick free thanks to rescue and a good preventative. She likes to be the alpha female so it is best she is not with another dominate dog. She responds to the "come" command and walks well on a leash. This beautiful happy to have found rescue but seeking a forever and ever home is ready to be a loved pet to an individual or family seeking a lovable girl!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cookie, a Alexandria Pug/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pug/Dachshund for sale in Alexandria, or seeking a Pug/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Alexandria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Alexandria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Alexandria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pug/Dachshund breeders who help with Pug/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Alexandria paves the way for another one to be saved.
