Chig's Story...
Chig is an 8 month old neutered male Plott Hound mix puppy. He is a big boy but loves to play! He does great with other dogs and loves people! He does well with kids, but since he is a large sized puppy very little ones aren't recommended due to him possibly knocking them over unintentionally. He is already house trained and crate trained.

$150 Adoption Fee for all Dogs and Puppies. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, a heartworm/lymes test (for adults), microchip, and all age appropriate vaccinations. (Puppies are too young for the test but will be started on preventative.)

SHELTER HOURS: 1:00pm – 6:00pm Tuesday - Thursday; 12:00pm – 4:00pm Friday and Saturday; 1pm-4pm Sunday; Closed Monday. We welcome adoptions from people living out of the area or outside the state of Virginia. The application process is completed in person at the shelter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chig, a Staunton Plott Hound/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Plott Hound/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Staunton, or seeking a Plott Hound/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Staunton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Staunton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Staunton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Plott Hound/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Plott Hound/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Staunton paves the way for another one to be saved.
