Leighann Libra's Story...
This pretty little girl is Leighann Libra. She and her buddy Opal Oppenheimer were found wandering, lost and alone in far west Houston. Their rescuer confirmed they were not microchipped, nor were they wearing any tags. Unable to keep them, they were taken to a nearby animal control with the hope that owners might be looking for them. The folks at AC were so sure someone had to be looking for the girls, they extended their normal stray hold just in case. Unfortunately, no one came for them. Caring folks from the local rescue community brought their plight to DREAM's attention and of course we said "yes we'll help!" One of our awesome volunteers picked them up and now their futures are looking bright! They are receiving excellent intake veterinary care and as we learn more about their sweet personalities, we'll share that with you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Leighann Libra, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
