9/8/16 Update:  Pumpkin is perfect for a person that likes their dog with a little personality.  She is cute and spunky, and has plenty of different vocalizations to communicate her point.  She is good with our two dogs.  She even does good with our other 'type A' personality in the house, our Chihuahua.  There are occasionally some territory issues, but just a little grumbling and they settle in.  She is also good with the cats, but will occasionally try to chase them.  She's very playful, but may be a little too aggressive for some cats and kids.  She's all bark and no bite.  She is like a pug in that way, lots of noise when playing so that it sounds like she is trying to pick a fight, but she's not.  She does okay in the crate, but prefers to roam free.  She likes to go into the crate for quiet time and does enjoy a good blanket to snuggle in to.  She is completely house-trained.  She does good on a leash, but does pull a little, so is better with a harness.  She loves being outside and is very curious about the rabbits that live under our shed.  I think if I let her go, she would try to burrow in there to get them.  She is a good alarm system, and will bark at strangers and strange noises, but settles down quickly.  She adjusted quickly her new home, she was perfectly comfortable there within an hour or so of arriving.  I haven't seen any issues with separation anxiety.

12/22/15 Update: Pumpkin is a very sweet loyal dog once she knows you.She jumps up on the couch and lives to sleep under the covers at the bottom of the bed. We do crate her at night and she prefers to have extra blankets in which to burrow under. She gets along with our dog and cats now after a period of adjustment. She will do anything for people food!  Pumpkin is a very sweet loyal dog once she knows you.

She would be great with someone that stays home or is retired since she likes being with someone. She does like cats.

About TreeTops Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Who We Are
TreeTops Animals Rescue is an animal adoption organization dedicated to placing unwanted animals into caring permanent homes. We do not have a central shelter to visit, because our volunteers foster these animals in our homes, which allows us to give you an accurate description of each animal's needs and personality. We are incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of PA and have applied for 501c3 status
process includes completing an adoption applic

TreeTops is an all volunteer organization and more hands are always needed. If you can foster a dog or cat, help with transports, check applications, assist with the website, organize publicity, do fundraising, or help in any other ways, please go to our website at and fill out a volunteer application. Working together we can save more!

It costs money to rescue an animal and many of our rescued pets need special care such as extended medical treatment or extra time and socialization to recover from severe neglect or abuse. For all these reasons, no rescue can fully support itself on only the money from adoption fees. Please consider donating to help us continue to rescue wonderful but currently unwanted animals. All donations are tax deductible and can be made though PayPal, credit card, or check at Our animals thank you!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Once or twice a month we try and hold Meet & Greet events at which people can come meet some of the dogs and cats we have available for adoption. Pets CANNOT be adopted at this event, but you can get to know the animals, talk to the foster parents, and get information about adoption or volunteering.

To arrange individual meetings with our foster dogs in their foster homes, we do need a an approved application.

Please see our website at for a list of upcoming events, for more information, or to complete an application.

Our Adoption Process...

Adopting a friend
Our application process includes completing an adoption application, checking references, a meeting of the entire family with the animal, and a home visit. Because of this process, adoptions must be local (within a reasonable driving distance) and animals cannot be shipped. Please visit our website at to read about our rescue, our Adoption Policies, and how to Volunteer or make Donations. Applications to adopt and volunteer are available online or to download.
