A little information about Buddy...

Hi! My name is Buddy and I am a small golden retriever mix as I only weigh 32lbs (although my foster mom feels I could gain a pound or two with no problem) and I'm probably around 4 years old. I found myself at a really scary place and when foster mom came along and asked if I wanted to take a ride to Connecticut to try and find me a forever home, I jumped at the chance. I am a happy boy and have done pretty good with everyone I have met, including foster mom's cats. I'm learning not to pull on a leash but sometimes I forget when I see another dog or person that I want to meet . . . talking about meeting, if you think you might be able to give me a forever home, please come out and see me in Chester!

Buddy will be coming to our next event at:

Chester Fair Grounds - 11 Kirtland Terrace -Chester, CT 06412
October 24th and 25th.

Event information....

We are open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm. All final decisions are made by the rescues not Homeward Bound volunteers. If you are interested in this dog or any of our dogs please go to www.homewardboundadoptionevents.jimdo.com (copy and paste in browser window) and see all of the dogs coming and also fill out an application.

If you are a first time dog owner we my require a home visit prior to adoption.

If you rent or live in a condo we will require proof that you are able to have a dog. This could be a copy of the lease or condo agreement.

We request you bring all the residents in the household to the event along with any dog in your home for a meet and greet with our trainers.

Per the request of the rescues we may limit adoptions to only Connecticut homes due to the distance and support we give them. This again is strictly the rescues decision and hope you will honor that.

We also require a follow up visit with all families within a couple of months after the adoption.

If you have additional questions about our dogs feel free to contact us. Please understand that we are all volunteers and will try to get back to you as soon as possible. If it is close to our event we are very busy with pre-screening our applicants so please understand if we can't answer all your questions in a timely manner. Our goal is to make sure these dogs go to the best home possible.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buddy, a Chester Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Chester, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Chester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chester paves the way for another one to be saved.
