Blue eyes...my mally has blue eyes...Meet Diesel!

He is a big beautiful boy looking for a new family that has the time to spend with him. Diesel is a very sweet and friendly malamute/husky mix who loves giving out hugs and kisses. He is great with all people including older kids but may be too big for a household with younger children as he sometimes forgets his size and can knock little ones down. Diesel is a master hunter and gatherer and will bring you his trophies of moles and mice back to you to show off his prowess. Because of his accomplished hunting skills he needs a home without cats or other small critters. He also is a skilled passenger in the family pick up truck as he frequently calls: Shotgun! and he rides beautifully in the front seat. Diesel does well with other dogs his size but is unknown with small dogs as he has never been around them. Diesel is house trained and kennel trained and enjoys his leash walks. Being a young strong mal he is a puller but he is working on his leash manners.

If you are looking for your next loyal companion hiking buddy running partner and all around love bug then Diesel may be the mal for you!

The adoption fee of $300 includes spay-neuter and all vaccines.

Diesel is being lovingly cared for in Washington.

Alaskan Malamutes are warm and friendly, playful, gentle, intelligent and silly. Their exquisite beauty is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Arctic climate where they lived as close companions to the Mahlemut Eskimos, pulling heavy sledges over terrible terrain in harsh weather.

Malamutes shed twice a year and should be brushed regularly. Since they are so large, they should never be left alone with small children unsupervised, though this is true of any dog.

Malamutes participate in many sports such as backpacking, weight-pulling, carting, sojourning and competition obedience. Their best-known feature is their extraordinary sweetness of temperament.

About Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League

About Our Rescue Group...

WAMAL was formed in 1998 to help with Malamute Rescue in the greater NorthWest area to cover rescue needs outside of the scope of Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue by Cindy Neely. Since that time we have rescued on average between 70 and 100 Malamutes a year and have rescued hundreds to date. While none of this would have originally happened without a small few, it's the numerous (but sometimes still too few) volunteers that make rescue happen. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and locations. Most are already overworked and too busy in their personal lives to start, but donating their time to rescue truly is what makes it possible to save the lives of this gentle and loving working breed... our Mals. The pride (and pain) of our lives.

Come Meet Our Pets...

WAMAL is strictly internet based. Most of all our correspondence will be via email, typically during the odd hours of the night that our volunteers are able to donate time. The dogs in our rescue are taken into the homes and lives of our volunteers, there is no shelter to come visit. There is no phone number to call. We are sorry for this, but with over 200 volunteers and over 100 dogs a year, there just is not an easy way to coordinate a statewide rescue other than through email. We can be contacted best at wamal@wamal.com which is monitored practically 24/7/365

Our Adoption Process...

We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $300 which is tax deductible as we are a federally approved 501(c)3 charity. Our adoption contracts can be viewed online at: http://www.wamal.com/docs/WAMALAdoptionAgreement.pdf

We have fencing and/or kennel requirements as malamutes can not be trusted to not roam.

We are looking for forever homes for our rescue dogs, and homechecks will be performed for all adopters, no exceptions. We love these dogs, and want what is best for them, we assume our adopters would want the same. Plus, the homecheck lets everyone meet eachother, get to ask and answer questions, and make sure we match the right dog for the right family for that perfect match that will last a lifetime! Our success story "Happy Tails" can be viewed online at:
