Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Charlie" is a 3-yo (born Aug 2012), approx 80-lb soon-to be neutered male GSD who is playful, energetic and happy-go-lucky. Charlie is friendly with everyone, and is especially good with kids. He presently lives with four children ages 8-11, and has proven to be gentle w/ kids much younger.
Charlie is great with other dogs, including small dogs--he gets along fine w/ the 10-lb female Terrier/Poodle mix that he lives with. He is a regular visitor to the local dog park, and did great w/ the dogs at GSRSV's facility. Charlie has not been around cats, so I will only consider a home w/out cats for him.
Charlie is very well behaved in the house and his owners keep him inside when they are gone. He obeys a few basic commands, but has never had formal training and would definitely benefit from training. Charlie likes to jump up on visitors to the house (in a friendly manner)--this is a behavior that is relatively easy to curb. He also will bolt out the front door when visitors come over if his owners do not restrain him. This behavior will require a little more work to curb, but can be easily prevented with due diligence.
Charlie LOVES to play fetch. He is one of the few GSDs I've seen who actually drops the ball right at your feet for you to throw again! (Click here to see a short video of Charlie's fetching skills.) Charlie loves to go for walks. He does pull out of eagerness for the first few minutes, but then settles down. His owners use a harness on Charlie, which gives them better control. Charlie also loves to go for car rides, and he rides very calmly in the car.
Charlie's owners adopted him on July 4 of this year from a family that had raised him from a puppy. Charlie's original owners were rehoming him because they were about to have another baby and no longer wanted him. They had relegated Charlie mostly to the garage and backyard for the previous two years.
Charlie's former owners had to seek a new home for him because they were moving in with the wife's parents who did not want them to bring Charlie with their family.
Charlie is now in a foster home in East Sacramento. His adoption fee is $275, which will include a microchip and his neuter surgery.
