Tiberius's Story...
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION ON FILE WITH JNMRF BEFORE CONTACTING US ABOUT ANY DOGS. Go to http://www.elkhoundrescue.org/adopt.htm to fill out the application to adopt.

Tiberius is a sweet 9 year old neutered male who spent most of his life outdoors. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. He was in a bad situation for a short while and lost a lot of weight. Tiberius' plight was brought to the attention of JNMRF by a rescue volunteer in northern NY. He was surrendered with the cooperation of his breeder and is currently in NJ. He lived recently with a number of Beagles and had previously lived with his brother who was the alpha. We know that Tiberius loves people and can bark if he feels abandoned. Although he was an outdoor dog, he learned quickly at the vet kennel that he would be walked so he didn't need to soil his indoor kennel. Volunteers drove him to his foster in NJ and provided these wonderful photos. He does very well in the car. Tiberius would be happy with a home where he can be with his people a lot and get plenty of time being loved. If you think he might be your next best friend, please click here to fill out an application to adopt him. He's waiting for you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tiberius, a Parsippany Norwegian Elkhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Norwegian Elkhound for sale in Parsippany, or seeking a Norwegian Elkhound dog from a breeder in Parsippany.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Parsippany already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Parsippany breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Norwegian Elkhound breeders who help with Norwegian Elkhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Parsippany paves the way for another one to be saved.
