Hello! My name is Koda, and ESRA is helping me find a new home because my former owners were moving and couldn't take me with them. My foster mom says that I am a lovely girl, and she thinks that I might possibly be a mix because of my beautiful, almost solid coloring.
At the vet's office, they said that I have amazing, healthy, beautiful teeth that make me look three years younger. In fact, I’m so healthy that the vet wondered how I could really be seven years old. I had a couple of mammary tumors removed while I was there, and I was also spayed and updated on all my shots. It was a long day, but I feel great, and I’m all ready for my new Forever Home now.
I am a loving and super-happy girl, and my foster mom keeps telling me how wonderful I am. I am very much a Velcro Springer, and I follow my foster mom everywhere, even if she is just going out to the car. I wouldn't want to miss a car ride--I ADORE car rides! I’m such a good girl in the car, too. I sit patiently in the back seat until we get to our destination, but then I do try to be the first one out of the car. (I guess we might need to work on that.)
When I am at home with my foster family, I love to lounge on the couch while they watch TV. And if they feel the need to pet me, that's even better! When it’s time to go to bed, I go to sleep on the doggie bed on the bedroom floor, but I could probably be coaxed onto the bed if my people would like to invite me up.
I am fully housetrained, and I have never had an accident in my foster home. I do not like the crate, but I really see no need to go into one since I am such a good girl. I am allowed free rein while the family is at school and work. I don’t chew on things--I am past that pesky puppy stage! I mostly just sleep until my people come home. That's when I welcome them with chatter and whining and let them know that it's time for dinner. (A girl works up an appetite sleeping all day!)
I have been around older children, and I do great with them. I love all the people I meet. I have been around cats, and I respect them and do not try to chase them. As for other canines, I think I would prefer to be the only dog in my new family. I get along with my doggie foster siblings most of the time, but sometimes if they come too close, I will growl at them and warn them to back off. They have learned to go around me, so I think it would be best for me to be a pampered princess and the center of my humans' attention.
I know the command Sit, and I follow that well. We are working on Stay. I take treats nicely, but sometimes I get a little anxious, and then I need to be reminded to be gentle and nice.
If you are interested in adopting me, please contact our coordinators at the e-mail address below so that they can put you in touch with my foster mom. I'm anxious to share all my love and joy with a special person or family that I can call my own!
Doggie kisses,
Koda
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Koda.
