Brinkley's Story...
Brinkley is a beautiful wire haired schnauzer mix. He is about 30 lbs and approx 18 month old. He is just a really sweet dog, a little timid and shy at first, but warms up quickly. He loves being wherever you are and has a little separation anxiety. He gets along well with the other dogs and loves to run and play with his buddy - and by "buddy" we mean not only other dogs, but he has befriended a GOAT who lives in his foster home. LOL - so another dog (or goat) as a companion would be great. He needs a couple of children or an active family. He has a really nice disposition, seems to be fairly well house trained and does well on leash but could do with some additional training. He is underweight an could do to put on 5 to 10 lbs.

If you live in MA, there are new requirements for rescue dogs - according to the State Law, all rescues have to be quarantined for 48 hrs at the Ben Elder Kennels in Westport, MA. There is additional cost for this quarantine and new required health cert by a licensed MA vet of $110. We will go over all fees with you via email. Also, The state of MA does not allow adoptions of dogs that are heart worm positive. We are required to do a foster to adopt until the dog tests heart worm negative, usually in 4-6 months after treatment.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Brinkley, a Woonsocket Schnauzer (Standard) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Standard) for sale in Woonsocket, or seeking a Schnauzer (Standard) dog from a breeder in Woonsocket.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Woonsocket already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Woonsocket breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Standard) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Standard) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Woonsocket paves the way for another one to be saved.
