My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our lovely Princess Eloise is a dainty soul with a no nonsense persona. This pint sized Divette believes her own Press! At a mere 20 pounds, Princess Eloise can command a room and run the show. She needs a "take charge" person who won't let themselves be bested by a wicked pretty face.

Princess Eloise joined us recently from another overcrowded Rescue, more country bumpkin than ours, and we just love her. We believe Princess Eloise to be a lovely mix of Beagle and Black Cocker Spaniel. She has a tri-color coat, largely blue-black, with tan and white markings, the classic Beagle colors. Her coat is short, flat, with a slight wave, and her tail is nicely plumed. She has a perky gait that is delightful to watch.

Princess Eloise has just the kind of bright, playful personality that brings a smile to our collective mugs. She is a proud, confident girl, who loves people, once she has had had sufficient time to warm up. Princess Eloise likes to approach on her own terms, size up a visitor, and once she's comfortable, relax for petting. Princess Eloise is a bit touchy about being picked up under her "arm pits", but otherwise, she's a joy.

Princess Eloise is not the best choise for busy families with small children, who may not be patient enough to give her space, but she would shine in an active adult home, with savvy dog lovers. She is an adult dog, about three to five years old, well past the puppy drama years, and is able to settle down and relax as a calm, companion. She has a moderate energy level that is easily channelled into a couple of brisk daily leash walks. Then, it's naptime!

Princess Eloise is a bossy little girl in the dog pack, so she would probably be happiest in an only dog home, where she can soak up all the attention. Although, she has meshed well with some dogs, after she makes clear, "what's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine." Experienced dog owners, with some training chops, could easily troubleshoot this dynamic with ongoing leadership and obedience training.

Princess Eloise has good house manners and is housetrained and crate trained. Adopters should be prepared to troubleshoot the occasional accident that might occur as she learns new house rules. She is in excellent health and has been recently spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
