Mavis is a one year old female Central Asian Shepherd is Courtesy Listed. Please contact casdogrescue@gmail.com directly. She was surrendered to a southern animal shelter for being "too much dog" by a family that did not have adequate fencing. In reality, Mavis is a charming, bouncing, exuberant puppy who currently weighs about 100 pounds. CAS continue to grow until they are two years or more, so it is likely that she will get a bit larger than she is now.
Mavis currently lives with other dogs and loves to run, bark, play and excavate the back yard. She will do best in a home with a male dog. She is crate and potty trained, but like any puppy, still a little prone to mischief if left unsupervised. She will outgrow this with continued direction and training. Mavis really enjoys the company of others and her behavior is stable and social in public.
Adopters should be well aware that the Central Asian Shepherd is a serious guardian breed that requires extensive socialization and training for the life of the dog. They are typically not suited for dog parks or daycare, but they are wonderful family protectors, hiking buddies and fantastic companions.
Mavis has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on vaccinations and preventative, as well as tested negative for heartworm and tickborne disease. She is available to homes reasonably close to central Virginia. No shipping available. Transportation is the responsibility of the adopter with the understanding that there is a strict return policy should the adoption not work out for any reason. References, home visit, adoption contract and fee required, as well as a securely fenced yard. Invisible fences will not be considered.
