My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fairy is a wonderfully sweet, loving girl who is being fostered in an
all adult household with other pets. Since December, she has lived
with a 1-year-old lab/mastiff female and a 9-year-old lab/pit mix male
and several adult cats. She was initially very bossy with the female
dog, but they are great playmates now, so she would probably be best
paired with a male dog her size or bigger (60-70 lbs). She is very
respectful of the kitties and is only interested in their food bowls.
She is very active, so being an only dog might leave her time to get
into mischief, unless she can be actively engaged with her human(s)
the majority of the time. She is partial to the foster “mom” and
seems to prefer the company of women, but warmed up to her foster
“dad” in a reasonable amount of time. She is very intelligent and
eager to please and has learned inside manners and basic commands.
She graduated from the PetsMart Beginners Obedience Class recently, so
she walks well on a leash, and knows the following commands: Look at
Me, Sit, Stay, Shake, Leave It, Down, and Go To Bed. She likes to go
for rides and will sit to have her harness and leash put on. She
loads in/out of the foster family’s trucks very easily and loves to go
thru drive throughs for “hamburger therapy”. She often carries her toy
around and will snatch her foster sister’s toys too if she gets an
opportunity. She likes to be with her humans at all times, and will
sit calmly to be petted and have her ears rubbed after she makes a lap
through the house to see where everyone is. She is very observant and
notices when things have been moved or are out of place (both inside
the house and outside in the yard. She has not been exposed to very
young children, toddlers or infants and has had limited exposure to
older children. She did willingly let children approach her/pet her at
PetsMart and seemed comfortable with them – but she would most
definitely need supervision around children initially. She is crate
trained/house trained and will bark to let you know when she needs to
go out to potty - and prefers to be accompanied when she goes out to
do her business! At the foster family’s house, she sleeps in her
crate. Fairy is a big girl, but that just means there is more of her
to love. When she gets excited, she bounces and may bump or bounce
off of whoever is near. She knows she is not supposed to jump, but
excitement generally overrules her good manners – so her foster mom is
working very hard to help her overcome this bad habit. Please make an
appointment to meet Fairy by contacting Pets and People.
