Iris DeMent is a sweet cat, shy with humans and passionately in love with any other cat. . Her story is one of bravery. She managed to raise her kittens in a rural feral colony -- despite the presence of a neighbor who shot at the cats, always threatening to kill them.
Thankfully, a kind woman intervened with a plan to get all the feral cats fixed. As we helped her with the spay/neuter project, we met Iris and determined that she has a lot of potential to be very happy indoors!
Iris shows her sweet side to us with purrs and rump raises. She even rolls on her side for a tummy rub. She is still very shy, but if you have the patience to help her feel safe, she will reward you with her trust.
Iris has mild asthma, and she is doing well with a very occasional antihistamine medication. She has not required any medication for around six months.
Iris should be adopted into a home with other cats because she loves them so much. Every time foster mama enters the room, Iris is cuddled with one or another of her foster brothers or sisters. She's the one cat who can entice every single other cat to play, and foster mama is frequently interrupted at her computer by Iris running back and forth with other cats, wrestling and chasing happily. She brings so much joy to the other cats!
Do you have room in your heart for a sweet, shy little cat who makes all the other cats smile? Iris would so love to meet you and your cats!
