Last minute call!!!'s Story...
Well, if there is a lucky boy, this is him!!!. We and a few other Rescue Groups were asked about taking this boy. Generally there is no time to waste, and after a couple of days we were told that the Lab Rescue, after looking at him, decided not to take him since they thought he didn't look a 100% Lab. So because of that this poor guy was going to be euthanized. When we heard that, we decided to meet him and see how he was. Apparently he didn't like to be in a kennel and was spooked by some people around him. You have to understand: Shelters are scary for dogs. Some of them are ok with it and some of them are completely petrified. We went today with two other volunteers and were so happily surprised by what we saw. He walked right out and got friendly right away!! wagging his tail, coming to us, and sniffing around. That was it! we were so happy to take him in our Rescue. That was his last call!!!
We took him to a boarding place where he was evaluated and started to be introduced to other dogs. No issues at all. He is friendly with everyone and so happy to be able to run. He even played with the water hose!!
Obviously he has not been abused and is well balanced. And to the people thinking he is not a full Lab, well there is no way to know for sure, but he loves water!!! He looks like and acts like one!!!!!!!!!!!!
He just needs to lose a couple of pounds and get some exercise, and he will be just right!! He is on the medium size but still weighs 60 lbs. He has a very shiny black coat and has some black spots on his tongue. (yes purebreds do have black spot as well). Today was a great day for Rescue!! If you would like to meet him please fill out the application on line at: www.findahomegiveahome.com under the form tab.
Update from Foster Family: I picked him up from the kennel and he hopped right up into the car. Had a great ride in the back with each window opened just enough to stick his nose out. He was great for the 25 minute ride. He is well behaved in the house and is just a calm sweetheart. Takes treats gently, sits for them, lays on command and loves to be in the same room with you. This guy will make someone a wonderful companion. He has no name so get him before I name him!!!
Thanks for sharing his story!
