Marisol is one of the sweetest, loving souls you may ever meet.  She has been staying with an LCAL foster since being rescued from the streets of L.A. This has been great for her because she’s had a chance to learn the kindness of humans and how nice it is to have a safe place to stay and regular meals.

Survival on the streets required her to practice caution when faced with new things and this is probably never going to completely leave her.  She may always startle at a loud noise or a new busy environment. But she is ALL love. Just in a subtle way.

Her boundless optimism has her ever ready to head out on any leash adventure. She enjoys meeting new people but will always prefer it best if they’re willing to reach out and show her gentle kindness first rather than waiting for bouncy doggie love from her. She’s eager to please and seems to learn quickly.

If you’d like a companion who will wish nothing more from you than your steady companionship and a few adventures, you’ll definitely want to meet Marisol.

Great with almost all other dogs (better off leash)

Will probably do best if a crate is always provided as a safe haven

A slip leash is best to allow her human to have ultimate control in scary situations. (she prefers it this way)

She is about 7-8 years old

About Last Chance at Life All Breed Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Last Chance at Life is an all-breed rescue and adoption organization. We have a special fondness for Boxers, birds, and ANY pet in need of medical care. We take in animals from all over San Diego County. Our rescues come to us from local shelters and humane societies, owners who can no longer properly care for them, and through other rescue groups. Most often these animals are facing euthanasia because of medical or behavioral needs. Because of this, we are truly their “Last Chance at Life.”

Some of our pets are in foster homes, and others are cared for at our Adoption Center in Oceanside, CA.

All of our pets receive the very best in medical care from the doctors and staff at Mission Animal and Bird Hospital. The entire team is very committed to offering care to our pets in need and no short cuts are ever taken because these are rescue pets. Visit Mission Animal and Bird Hospital.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are available to meet at our adoption events and at our Adoption Center. We have a partnership with the Petco Organization so we are at one of their stores every weekend.

If you would like to meet a dog at our Adoption Center during the week, those appointments are by appointment only as our center is an un-manned facility.

If you are interested in meeting one of our amazing LCAL pets please email Pam at Info@lastchanceatlife.org

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the adoption process is an application. We also ask for a letter of recommendation from a current or past veterinarian you have used for any other animals you have or have had in the past. This letter is basically the doctor recommending you for adoption based on your history of taking good medical care of your animals. If you rent, we ask for proof that you are allowed to have a dog in your home. That's it paperwork-wise. Then we can work to find the dog that is the perfect fit for your family. If you do not have a vet that you have used in the recent past, no problem! We will schedule a home visit.

The adoption, once you have decided on your new furry family member, includes the following:

We will provide you with 3 months of flea and tick products as well as a year of heartworm. We also provide a year of Wellness at Mission Animal & Bird Hospital in Oceanside. There is no cost for the Wellness Program and it provides the following:

Dog Adult Basic Plan:
For dogs over 6 months of age
FIRST YEAR FREE TO LCAL ADOPTERS
Two complete wellness exams
Unlimited office visits
All core vaccinations
Two fecal exams for parasites
Deworming (round and hookworms)
Free interstate health certificates
Nail trims and anal gland expression at ½ reg. fee
Venipuncture fee
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Blood panel, including kidney and liver screen, calcium, phosphorus, cholesterol, and glucose (diabetes)
Complete urinalysis
Annual heart worm test

The adoption fee is a donation of your choice with a minimum of $200. This fee includes all services above as well as microchip. Your pet has been spayed/neutered and will come with a full medical history as best as we can give. When the dogs come to us they see a vet right away for an intake exam so we know as much as possible regarding their current health. They are given vaccines and we take blood, fecal, and urine to send to the lab to look for any other health issues that we can treat.
